Meet Our Interim Pastor

Rev. Dr. Timothy Lewis Auman was born in 1958 and raised among the rolling hills and quiet landscapes of Piedmont North Carolina. Drawn early to questions of meaning, beauty, and human flourishing, he studied Religion as an undergraduate in the 1980s before earning both a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate in Philosophy—studies that opened into a lifelong vocation in higher education, contemplative practice, and spiritual formation.

A longtime meditator and certified meditation instructor, Tim teaches through the Nalanda Miksang School of Contemplative Photography, where photography becomes less about capturing the world and more about learning to truly see it. His work invites students to slow down, pay attention, and encounter ordinary life with greater presence, curiosity, and compassion.

Tim is an ordained United Methodist minister in the Western North Carolina Annual Conference. He is also an Associate of the Order of the Holy Cross, a Benedictine community within the Anglican Communion and The Episcopal Church, whose rhythm of prayer, hospitality, and contemplative living has deeply shaped his spiritual life.

Tim shares his life with his partner, Heidi Gessner, and together they delight in the joys, challenges, and quiet blessings of their blended family, which includes their four wonderful children: Jon, Micah, Addie, and Noah.
