SOIL and WATER’S ENVIRONMENTAL DAYS

Stokes Soil & Water Conservation District sponsors Environmental Awareness Days at Hanging Rock State Park for 5th graders, and has sponsored this event for close to 40 years. At Environmental Awareness Days, 5th grade students participate in individual 15-minute workshops learning about wildlife habitat, plant & animal ecology, soil conservation, weather, the water cycle, honey bees, forest ecology, and life functions of the human body, all correlated with 5th grade science curriculum. Each station is taught by qualified professionals from state and local environmental agencies.
